E-beam irradiation can enhance the properties of polymers by crosslinking. Once irradiated, the mechanical, thermal, and chemical qualities of plastics are improved significantly. BEYOND™ solutions are used by our customers to reinforce thermal resistance of plastic parts in the automotive industry, among others.

Radiation is used to reduce bioburden by damaging the DNA of bacteria and other contaminants. Similarly to Gamma sterilization, E-beam and X-rays are directed to the product to be sterilized, either in single units, boxes or pallets. Most materials are compatible with electron and X-ray radiation.

Phytosanitary treatment can solve several of the Food chain challenges thanks to short treatment times, excellent dose uniformity and a high quality of treatment. BEYOND™ solutions can be tuned to cope with the seasonality of the food production: higher temporary beam power to treat larger volumes during the peak season and turn off if no products are available. Furthermore, E-beam and X-ray irradiation does not leave residues. BEYOND™ solutions for food have specificities such as adequate energy (5 & 7 MeV), ad hoc product handling systems, and rotating devices.
